AMBER FAYERBERG

Amber Fayerberg is a civil rights and criminal defense attorney with over a decade of experience litigating complex cases across state and federal courts. She is known for her commitment to justice in challenging and high-impact cases, including those involving reproductive rights, the treatment of incarcerated individuals, and post-conviction relief.

Amber spent several years as an attorney at Freedman Boyd Hollander in Albuquerque, where she focused on criminal defense, civil rights, and personal injury litigation. She has successfully handled matters at trial, on appeal, post conviction and in mediation and arbitration. She previously served as General Counsel to the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions and began her career as a felony prosecutor in the Second Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

In her private practice, Amber has served as lead counsel in Hidalgo v. Department of Corrections, securing the first ruling in New Mexico affirming that the right to breastfeed is a fundamental right under the New Mexico Constitution. She has collaborated on high-stakes criminal and civil matters with organizations including Pregnancy Justice and the ACLU, and she continues to litigate complex constitutional cases as Of Counsel to Arshack, Hajek & Lehrman in New York City.

Amber is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif, served as an editor of the New Mexico Law Review, competed on the National Mock Trial Team, and received the Esteban Aguilar Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. She graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University and served as a Teach for America corps member on the Navajo Nation.

Now co-founder of Fayerberg Dodd LLC, Amber maintains an active docket while dividing her time between the United States and New Zealand.
